Some humans, however, instead of bursting into flames, gained the ability to control the flames themselves, while others simply turned into monstrosities covered in flames called Infernals. To combat these flaming monstrosities, the Special Fire Force was formed, primarily to deal with the Infernals, and also keep people endowed with flame control powers in check, much like Shinra Kusakabe, a third and fourth generation pyrokinetic who decided to use his abilities for good.
